Dennis Long retired from Principal Financial Group in August 2009. At Principal, Mr. Long was Vice President of Retirement and Investor Services, responsible for all consulting operations for retirement plans including 401K, Defined Benefit, ESOP, and non qualified deferred compensation plans. Members of the consulting team operated from Principal offices in 18 cities throughout the United States.
Mr. Long joined Principal Financial Group in January 2003 when he sold the consulting firm he founded in 1978 to Principal. His prior firm, BCI Group, was the largest ESOP consulting and full service administration firm in the country at the time. Mr. Long was CEO and Chairman of BCI Group.
Currently, Mr. Long is a member and past Chair of the Leadership Giving committee for the Fox Cities United Way and recently finished his term on the Board of Directors. He is also a past chair of the community campaign for the Fox Cities United Way. Mr. Long is currently the Chair of the Investment Committee and Vice President of The Catholic Foundation for the Diocese of Green Bay, a Board member of American National Bank, and a member of the Dean’s Counsel of Excellence, College of Business Administration, Marquette University. He is also a Past Chairman of Goodwill Industries for Northeastern Wisconsin.
Prior to his retirement, Mr. Long was an active member of many industry organizations including The ESOP Association, The National Center for Employee Ownership, and The Employee Owned S Corporations of America, and the American Society of Pension Actuaries. Dennis served in many leadership roles in these organizations and was a frequent speaker and author throughout his career.
Mr. Long earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration/Economics from Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisc. He and his wife, Patti, split their time between Oshkosh, Wisconsin and Fort Myers, Florida. They are proud parents of four sons and a daughter.
